PAULY FENECH brings his new show The Bogan Bible to Brisbane Comedy Festival

04 Dec 2017

The Bogan Bible

Performing at: Adelaide Fringe, Brisbane Comedy Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival

Award-winning actor, writer, film-maker and comedian Pauly Fenech (Housos, Fat Pizza, Swift and Shift Couriers, Bogan Hunters) will bring his new live comedy show The Bogan Bible to Australia in 2018. Be prepared to be inducted into the bogan world through stand-up comedy, multimedia and audience interaction.

Ever wondered what exactly is a bogan? Where did they come from? Are you yourself in fact a bogan? These questions and more will be answered by the original Bogan Hunter, Logie winner and Tropfest winner Pauly Fenech in The Bogan Bible.

★★★★★ ‘Comedic genius - a must see comedy show.’ - Impulse Gamer

★★★★ ‘Testament to why Fenech’s brand of politically incorrect comedy has lasted 15 years on TV and won him a logie.’ - The Music

Paul ‘Pauly’ Fenech began his career in entertainment when he left school and became a stagehand at ABC TV. Over seven years, he performed a variety of roles at ABC, from sound assistant to floor manager, before realising his ambition of becoming a director. In 1995 Paul came third at Tropfest Film Festival with his short film Pizza Man, followed up by his 1996 entry Space Pizza which won the open section of Tropfest and came first at the St Kilda Comedy Film Festival. In 1998 he won first prize at Tropfest with Intolerance.

Following on from the success of his short films, Paul made his first feature film, Somewhere in the Darkness which was the first Australian film ever selected for US indie film festival Slamdance. Paul then set his sights on TV and created SBS’ cult hit Pizza, which went on to receive five Logie nominations across five series. The show was such a hit that they took it to the road, performing Pizza stage shows in every capital city in Australia, with appearances at events from the Big Day Out to the Lord Mayor’s Picnic.

★★★★ ‘Just one criticism - it didn’t go long enough.’ - The Advertiser

‘Comedic genius...a night full of laughter.’ - The AU Review

Paul also wrote, directed, produced and starred in Logie-nominated Swift and Shift Couriers before going on to create SBS’ infamous Logie-winning show Housos which was such a success that it resulted in two movies, Housos vs Authority and Fat Pizza vs Housos, as well as live stage shows across Australia. In total, since 1998 Paul has made over 50 hours of TV comedy, five feature films and performed countless live performances from pub shows to casinos. Don’t miss this legend of Aussie comedy performing at Brisbane Comedy Festival for one night only in March 2018!
