Having delighted east coast fans back in February with his very first visit to Australia, Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce that acclaimed Brighton UK singer and songwriter James Bay will return to Sydney this winter, for a special one-off performance at the Metro Theatre on Wednesday 12 August.

Bay’s latest platinum hit single ‘Let It Go’ (out now through Universal Music Australia) is currently all over airwaves, reaching #8 on the ARIA singles chart. It’s lifted from Chaos and the Calm, Bay’s acclaimed debut album, which was recorded at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios with producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Tom Waits). Reaching #3 on the ARIA Albums chart, it’s the very first longplayer for an artist whose poignant, effortless connection with fans is a true testament to his talent.

One of this year’s biggest break-out stars, Bay’s stunning vocals and clever, subtle instrumentation has seen him go from being a mainstay on Brighton’s open mic scene to supporting The Rolling Stones, Kodaline, John Newman and Tom Odell. A nominee for the BBC’s Sound Of 2015, Bay took out the Brits’ 2015 Critics Choice Award, the 24-year-old wowing fans at festival sets and headline shows in the UK..

Bay’s third EP, Hold Back The River, was a #1 debut on the UK’s iTunes chart – its title song declared ‘Single of The Week’ by Zane Lowe weeks before its release and the ‘Record Of The Week’ by station XFM (watch the single video here). Now we have the Chaos and the Calm album, which Aussie audiences got a taste of back in March when Bay first visited for two special live dates:

‘Ever felt like you were witnessing a performer who’s rare, special and on the verge of global stardom? This is the emotion newcomer James Bay commands.’ – Time Out (Sydney)

‘With his stunning tone, raw expressions and gravelly voice supporting his extremely powerful and emotive songs, there was barely a moment that passed without James gripping the crowd.’ – B Positive

‘Bay set the recently refurbished venue alight with his blend of mellow emotive offerings and his more upbeat, soaring numbers. Standout tracks of the night included ‘Let It Go’, ‘Move Together’, ‘Running’ and the latest gem which was executed as the closing track, ‘Hold Back The River’ … James certainly knows how to perform.’ – 9/10 Fortitude Magazine
