RETURNS TO AUSTRALIA FOR ENCORE TOUR (+ WORLD’S LAST PERFORMANCES) THIS JUNE!

GLOBEN GLOBE AND EMMY NOMINATED, TONY AWARD WINNING ACTOR, NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR & CABARET ICON

Frontier Comedy are thrilled to announce the return of Olivier and Tony Award winning Scottish actor, author and cabaret icon Alan Cumming, for the last ever performances of his critically acclaimed cabaret Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs this June.

Last in Australia in 2015 for sold out performances of the hit show at Arts Centre Melbourne, Sydney Festival’s Spiegeltent and Brisbane Powerhouse Theatre, Alan returns this June for an encore season in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. For the first time ever Alan will also perform in Adelaide & Perth.

★★★★ ½ ‘Strength, warmth and honesty shine through in faultless performance...So hilarious, flirty and gorgeously filthy that it's hard to decide if you want him as a new best friend or a lover.’ - Sydney Morning Herald

The final season of Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs kicks off at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday 10 June; going on to Adelaide’s Her Majesty’s Theatre on Sunday 11 June to headline Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Perth’s Astor Theatre on Tuesday 13 June, Brisbane Powerhouse on Thursday 15 June as part of the Queensland Cabaret Festival, culminating at the world’s last performance of the beloved show at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre on Friday 16 June.

Described by Time Magazine as ‘one of the most fun people in show business’, by the New York Times as a ‘bawdy, countercultural sprite’ and by The Guardian as ‘European, weird, and sexually ambiguous’, Alan Cumming is many things to many people – renaissance man, style icon, social activist, bon viveur - but to himself he is a storyteller and provocateur for hire.

Alan’s diverse career has found him performing at venues around the globe; making back to back films with Stanley Kubrick and Spice Girls; directing and starring in a musical condom commercial; creating voices of a Smurf, a goat and Hitler; entering upside down and suspended by his ankles in a Greek tragedy (in the National Theatre of Scotland’s The Bacchae); and recording an award-winning album of songs (plus a dance remix).

He played political maverick Eli Gold on CBS’s The Good Wife, for which he received Golden Globe, Emmy, Screen Actors Guild and Satellite Award nominations and in 2015 finished his Tony Award-winning role of the Emcee in the Broadway musical Cabaret. Alan is also Host of PBS’s Masterpiece Mystery and appeared opposite Lisa Kudrow in Showtime’s Web Therapy.

★★★★ ‘The androgynous imp is both quiet and uproarious, adorable and sensual, flippant and emotional, otherworldly and inviting...this is precisely why he's an icon to behold - he is unapologetically himself, and with a talent like that, he has no need to apologize.’ - Billboard (US)

Alan has written for The New York Times, Newsweek, Harpers Bazaar, Out, Globe and Mail, and penned three books: Tommy’s Tale, his New York Times Best Selling memoir Not My Father’s Son and You Gotta Get Bigger Dreams: My Life in Stories and Pictures which was published by Rizzoli in 2016. He has won over 30 awards for his humanitarianism and social activism, received both the Great Scot and Icon of Scotland awards from his homeland, and was made an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for his contributions to the arts and LBGT equality by the Queen, whose portrait was taken down when his was unveiled at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in 2014!

‘In the underpopulated arena of male cabaret singers, Mr. Cumming may be the only one with the talent and drive to change its direction.’ - The New York Times

He’s sold out all previous Australian tours and now Alan Cumming is bringing his unmissable comedy cabaret back for the very last time! Don’t miss your chance to catch the bewitching Alan Cumming for a night of Vaudevillian showbiz, mischief-making, show tunes, and life-affirming laughs you won’t forget!
