HEADLINE SHOWS ANNOUNCED FOR BRISBANE & MELBOURNE IN FEBRUARY 2011

Following the huge success of their last visit with The Strokes in July this year, The Frontier Touring Company announces the return of The Like to Australia in February 2011 for headline shows in Brisbane and Melbourne.

Taking inspiration from the melodic and uplifting music of the 1960’s, The Like create songs that are both joyful and undeniably catchy. Their second album Release Me is a perfect combination of girl group pop sensibility and British Invasion rock; the result is a lively lyrical journey that leaves listeners reminiscent of sunny days gone by.

Comprised of founding members Z Berg on lead vocals/ guitar and drummer Tennessee Thomas as well as new members Laena Geronimo on bass and Annie Monroe, on organ the band have a partnership and attitude that makes them stand out in a tough market and assures that these girls are here to stay.

Impeccably produced by Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen, Robbie Williams) with additional production by Thomas Brenneck and Homer Steinweiss (of The Dap Kings) and Alex Greenwald (Phantom Planet), Release Me is a celebration of sassy bad-girl love stories and is as irresistible as it is charming. The album is filled with sweetly biting harmonies, awash with alluring organ licks and set to an infectious beat; Release Me is the stuff that 60’s pop dreams are made of.

Standout tracks include first single and title track, ‘Release Me’ which shimmers with a melody that’s like a glorious summer day yet harbours a soulful reminder of heartbreaks past- a credit to The Like’s lyrical prowess. Catchy pop gem ‘He’s Not a Boy’ is a rollicking lesson in tough love and is complimented by a film clip that is a delightful homage to the fashion and fun loving mentality of the 1960’s.

Critics agree that The Like have reached the strongest point in their career:

“Inspired songcraft … stunning.” – LA Weekly

“With powder-soft voice, jangly guitars, hand claps, and arched eyebrows, these four SoCal gals add a welcome dash of grit to girl-group pop. – Marie Claire

    “…Gritty soulful sound.” – Metro

Catch The Like as they head to Australia for headline shows in Brisbane and Melbourne and an appearance at Sydney’s Playground Weekender.
