Fans of THE STROKES rejoice!

The Frontier Touring Company and Secret Sounds are proud to present the return of the seminal quartet for two special shows this July. The influential foursome, set the music world on fire with their 2001 debut album Is This It (which topped the NME ‘100 Greatest Albums of the Decade’ late last year) and have consistently produced killer tunes (including Last Nite, Hard To Explain, The Modern Age, Reptilia, Juicebox, Take it or Leave It and New York City Cops), which have become modern classics.

The fab five - Nick Valensi on lead guitar, Julian Casablancas on vocals, Fabrizio Moretti on drums, Albert Hammond Jr. on rhythm guitar and Nikolai Fraiture on bass guitar – will make their way to Australia to play their first Australian shows since the release of their last album, the 2006 First Impressions of Earth. They will perform at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Thursday July 29th and Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Friday July 30th. Tickets are on sale to the public Mon April 12th.

It’s been a long time between drinks for THE STROKES. But In early 2009, it was announced that, following a long hiatus, the band were writing new material for an upcoming album.

Cut to 2010 and THE STROKES are currently in their hometown of New York City recording their 4th album with Grammy award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli who has worked with U2, Beck and My Morning Jacket among others.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune recently Julian Casablancas explained that the new album is set to be much more of a group effort. "I've written a lot of melodies for it. But the other guys have also contributed a lot more: melodies, choruses, parts. It's way more collaborative. So it’ll have a different feel than our other albums."

Individually, members of THE STROKES have been keeping the creative juices flowing. Albert Hammond Jr. released two solo albums, Yours To Keep and ¿Como Te Llama?. Nikolai Fraiture released his own solo album under the name Nickel Eye, The Time of the Assassins in January 2009. The album featured appearances from Regina Spektor and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Fab Moretti has worked with Har Mar Superstar and Devendra Banhart on a regular basis as well as his side outfit Little Joy. Nick Valensi has contributed to the new album from Sia. And singer Julian Casablancas is currently touring his solo album Phrazes For The Young.

With every song feeling like it’s imbued with the hustle of New York city life, don’t miss the captivating presence of THE STROKES on their long awaited return to Oz. Tickets are on sale from 9.00am on Mon April 12 and are expected to sell fast.
