RETURN FOR THE BIGGEST SHOWS OF 2005

In March this year Green Day rocked Australia. Fans and critics alike agreed the concerts were nothing short of spectacular and speculation as to when the band would return has been rampant ever since.

Finally the months of conjecture are over and The Frontier Touring Company can confirm that Green Day have agreed to return to Australia this December for two special stadium shows at the Sydney Cricket Ground and Melbourne’s Telstra Dome.

Promoter Michael Gudinski today confirmed the tour dates and stressed that there are definitely only two concerts.

“Unfortunately there isn’t enough room in the band’s schedule to do a multi-city tour this time. But this is stadium rock on a scale Australia hasn’t seen for some time and I’m sure many Green Day fans will be prepared to fly to Sydney or Melbourne to see something so special.”

Since last in Australia the band have toured stadiums through Europe to widespread acclaim with Kerrang! declaring the Milton Keynes show ‘The Greatest Show On Earth’.

With 15 semis carrying over 300 tons of equipment and staging, Australian Green Day fans can expect the finest production money can buy.

The staging includes an 8.5 metre stage thrust stretching out into the audience while a collection of strategically placed screens ensure those further back catch all the action. Particularly impressive are the two massive LED screens, which will tower each side of the stage.

A touring party of 200 staff will construct and stage the concert while Billie-Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt drive their fans wild. Certainly if the concerts the band performed here in March are anything to go by, no one will leave disappointed. That tour led to an impressive succession of glowing reviews.

Blunt Magazine wrote “Green Day put on an exhausting, impressive and original rock show.”

The Herald Sun declared “Green Day’s renewed success proves there is justice in rock music.”

And Inpress and Rave respectively said “Green Day put on a fantastic show that left fans breathless” and “there was never a dull moment.”

dB exclaimed, “how many times can you say “best show ever” and actually mean it? Frankly, not often. But ladies and gentleman, we may just have a winner.”

While Drum Media wrote “Green Day put on the consummate rock show” and the Adelaide Advertiser summed up the entire sold out tour with “Green Day came, Green Day saw, Green Day conquered...”

Green Day’s latest album American Idiot (Warner) has now sold over four times platinum in Australia and produced chart topping hits Holiday, Boulevard Of Broken Dreams and the most recent single Wake Me Up When September Ends.

Joining Green Day for their Australian tour dates are special guests Jimmy Eat World and My Chemical Romance, ensuring these are the year’s biggest shows in not only size but also stature.

Jimmy Eat World are renowned for the quality of their live shows, last visiting our shores in 2002. Jim Adkins (vocals, guitar), Tom Linton (guitars, vocals), Rick Burch (bass) and Zach Lind (drums), have come a long way since they first started out. Their dedication to touring their music and past hits The Middle and Sweetness has earned the Jimmy Eat World a dedicated Australian fan base. Since the release of their latest album Futures (Universal) late last year, fans have been begging the band to return to Australia.

And last, but definitely not least, is New Jersey group My Chemical Romance. Gerard Way (vocals), Ray Toro (guitar), Mikey Way (bass), Frank Iero (guitar), Matt Pelissier (drums) signed to their first record deal in 2002. In the past year the bands popularity has exploded, with Rolling Stone adding them to their 2005 ‘Bands To Watch’ list. Their first single I’m Not Okay, I Promise from their first major-label album release Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge (Warner), is a firm favourite with punk fans across the country and speculation over their first Australian tour has been endless.

Don’t miss out on Green Day, Jimmy Eat World & My Chemical Romance in the biggest concerts of the year. There is definitely only one show in Melbourne and one show in Sydney, so make sure you get in quick.
