The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to announce the Australian tour of one of jazz's brightest stars, Diana Krall. With performances locked in for all mainland states, fans throughout the nation will be given the opportunity to be wowed by the very talented and very stunning jazz diva come this April.

Influenced by a range of legendary musicians from Nat King Cole to Aretha Franklin, Krall shot to international stardom in 1999, with the release of her fifth album When I Look in Your Eyes (Universal). Featuring the classic hits Let’s Face the Music and Dance and I’ve Got You Under My Skin, the album held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Jazz Chart for a phenomenal 52 weeks, clocking up sales in excess of one million units in the US, and enjoying similar success in Canada, Portugal and France. As well as announcing Krall's arrival to the western world, the album also won critical acclaim, scooping up two Grammy awards, one for Best Jazz Vocal Performance and another for Best Engineered Album.

Krall’s later albums have been similarly successful. Her 2001 release The Look of Love topped the ARIA End of Year Jazz and Blues Chart two years running, in both 2001 and 2002, finishing above Norah Jones, Miles Davis, Ry Cooder and Eric Clapton. The Look of Love amassed platinum sales in Australia and Krall’s next release Live in Paris (Universal 2002) secured gold.

Along with delighting jazz fans the world over, Krall also has a history of delighting her critics:

“She woos you with a voice that is so enticing, a style so smooth, it’s impossible to resist… She put on an extraordinary show – swinging, yet intricate; poised, yet playful.” – allaboutjazz.com

“Her performance was just about perfect in terms of pace, balance and delivery.” – Manchester Online

“Not for nothing is she the reigning queen of jazz.” – The Age

Krall's Australian engagement is part of a world tour. Each performance down under will feature songs from Krall's latest offering The Girl in the Other Room (Universal 2004). The album not only confirms Krall’s status as jazz’s current leading lady, it also reveals her as a talented songwriter – six of the tracks on The Girl in the Other Room were written by Krall and husband Elvis Costello themselves.

The tour is destined to be an amazing experience. Her last tour to Australia was an overwhelming success with all of her shows selling out.
