Responding to enormous demand, The Chicks today announce they will play a second and final Christchurch show on Tuesday 31 October at the newly renamed Wolfbrook Arena (previously Christchurch Arena), after their first show on Monday 30 October completely sold out.

Tickets for the new Wolfbrook Arena, Christchurch show will go on sale to the general public at 12pm (local) on Wednesday 14 June. Tickets and further information at frontiertouring.com/thechicks.

The Chicks will make their anticipated return to New Zealand and Australia for the first time since 2017, when they played sold out Mission Estate NZ, Sydney and Melbourne shows. With their just-announced second Christchurch performance, The Chicks will now tally a mammoth ten nights across New Zealand and Australia on the antipodean leg of their World Tour this October – including sold out Melbourne, Brisbane and Christchurch shows.

Following a month-long residency at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood in May, the global superstars are in superb form. “The Chicks were energized and engaged… Vocally, Maines was flawless”, wrote the Las Vegas Review Journal of the band’s opening night show.

Currently taking their incredible live show across Europe and the UK, the band wraps up with a hugely anticipated stop at London’s Hyde Park on 8 July alongside Bruce Springsteen and James Bay, before continuing on to North America through August and September.

Earning universal recognition as the biggest-selling U.S. female band of all time, The Chicks have sold more than 30.5 million albums and are among an elite group of artists and the only female group to achieve multiple Diamond selling releases; reaching the stratospheric landmark of over 10 million copies sold, with both ‘Wide Open Spaces’ (1998) and ‘Fly’ (1999).

Counting thirteen GRAMMY Awards, six Billboard Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and numerous Country Music Association Awards among many other accolades, The Chicks’ record-breaking 2006 studio album, Taking The Long Way picked up five GRAMMY Awards including Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

With the release of their first studio album in fourteen years, 2020’s Gaslighter, The Chicks delivered their most anticipated yet, impressing critics globally. Co-produced by Jack Antonoff , the record was celebrated as “… a pop-country killer” by Vulture with Pitchfork calling it “a genuinely compelling new take on the punchy country sound that’s always made them stand out”.

With special guest Elle King joining The Chicks on all antipodean dates, these shows will be an exhilarating live experience for all music lovers. The four-time Grammy nominee has achieved multiple US Platinum singles, with her global hit ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’ chalking up 2x Platinum in Australia. Her latest album Come Get Your Wife was released to rave reviews earlier this year, Variety calling it a “masterstroke of music-making”.

Superstars, renegades, innovators, heroes and villains – For over two decades, The Chicks have developed from a band into a phenomenon, and they will make their triumphant return to New Zealand for the first time in six years this October. Don’t miss it!
