Today, Sydney indie kings and 2023 ARIA nominees for ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year’ Royel Otis are pleased to announce the PRATTS & PAIN Australian Tour, the freshly minted duo heading across metro and regional cities in February/March 2024 – proudly presented by Frontier Touring and triple j.

Comprised of childhood friends Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell, the winsome duo will kick off their biggest tour to date this summer, kicking the party off in their Sydney hometown on Friday 16 February, before performing shows in Torquay, Melbourne, Canberra, Wollongong, Adelaide, Fremantle, Coffs Harbour, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Maroochydore… before rounding out with a final date in Newcastle, NSW.

Today’s tour news comes in celebration of band’s highly anticipated debut album, PRATTS & PAIN – released Friday 16 February via Ourness. In further news, Royel Otis also have a new track for fans to fall in love with: ‘Heading For The Door’ is the third song lifted from the band’s upcoming full-length, and a total heart-on-sleeve tearjerker.

Tickets to PRATTS & PAIN Australian Tour go on sale Wednesday 13 December (12pm local time) via frontiertouring.com/royelotis. Frontier Members (sign up here) can get early access via the Frontier presale, which starts Monday 11 December (12pm local time).

The release of their PRATTS & PAIN marks a career-defining moment for Royel Otis, putting their music succinctly on the world stage. Formed in 2019, after drip-feeding music during the start of the pandemic, Pavlovic and Maddell quickly honed their craft and have since gone on to amass over 35+ million streams. In the first half of 2023 alone they performed at international festivals such as Leeds and Reading, Electric Picnic, Pukkelpop, and End of the Road; landed on global playlists on Spotify and Apple Music; sold out their first UK and European tour; were playlisted on US college radio,  BBC Radio 6 Music, and, of course, continued their run on triple j – with single ‘Adored’ landing #1 Most Played track and ‘Fried Rice’ dominating the airwaves. ‘Heading For The Door’, is say the band, about when, “Some of us understand that peace is precious but when the chaos starts to overcome just sit and accept it. Stop heading for the door.”

Releasing third EP Sofa Kings in 2023, Royel Otis delivered more solid cuts in singles ‘Kool Aid’, ‘Sofa King’, ‘Going Kokomo’ and ‘I Wanna Dance With You’. Naming their debut album after the London-based pub in which the duo wrote lyrics and found inspirations, the finished project displays a swing between melodic, pop-inspired indie and woozy psych that never stays to one lane. PRATTS & PAIN is their next chapter: adventures abound with no limits.

‘Their smile-inducing music feels free of pressure, free of judgement, and free of expectation; there’s an authenticity in their lyrics and a joie de vivre in their performance that speaks volumes to who Royel Otis is, both as a band and as two individuals making art and singing songs’ – Atwood Magazine
