Ethel Cain debut Australian tour June 2023

    31 Mar 2023

In her very first Australian appearance, acclaimed American singer-songwriter, Ethel Cain (a.k.a Hayden Silas Anhedönia) brings her haunting Gothic pop down under this June. Already set to appear at Vivid LIVE, Sydney at Sydney Opera House, and RISING in Melbourne, today’s news announces Ethel Cain as a part of the annual Dark Mofo event in Hobart plus a special headline show in Brisbane

It was announced earlier this month that Cain will perform for Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House on Friday 2 June, Saturday 3 June, and Sunday 4 June – with all three shows selling out straight away.  She will then head to Brisbane for her headline show at Cremorne Theatre, QPAC, on Tuesday 6 June. Heading south, she will then take on RISING Melbourne, with shows at the Forum Upstairs on Friday 9 June and Saturday 10 June (both shows sold out), before finishing the tour at Hobart’s Dark Mofo on Sunday 11 June.

Tickets to the headline QPAC Brisbane show go on sale Monday 3 April 9am local time via qpac.com.au/event/ethelcain_23. The Dark Mofo Hobart subscriber presale kicks off Wednesday 5 April 11am local time ahead of the general public on sale 2pm local same day.  Tickets and info via: darkmofo.net.au/program/ethel-cain.  Fans in Sydney and Melbourne can sign up for waitlist tickets via the Vivid LIVE and RISING Melbourne websites.

‘Hayden Silas Anhedönia delivers a powerful set of sprawling, gothic pop under her Preacher’s Daughter persona’The Guardian

From a conservative religious upbringing in small-town Florida to inclusion on Barack Obama’s annual playlist, the acclaim for her debut album, the sprawling, country-tinged Preacher’s Daughter (2022) has established the 24-year-old as one of the hottest new talents of the moment. She made further waves by earlier this month walking for iconic fashion label Miu Miu – subsidiary of powerhouse Italian fashion label, Prada – at the 2023 Paris Fashion Week.

Ethel Cain is inspired by gospel, country, rock and her mother's soundtrack of Gregorian chants, channelling her influences into her dark and dreamy breakthrough EPs Carpet Bed (2019), Golden Age (2019) and Inbred (2021) that saw her likened to an American Gothic version of Lana Del Rey. Driven by the deceptively poppy hit (and Obama fave) 'American Teenager', Cain’s debut Preacher’s Daughter confirmed the arrival of a major new star, its sprawling tales of God, murder and cannibalism wrapped in a haunting, bewitching dream.

Experience the unparalleled power that is Ethel Cain live when she makes her Australian debut this June.
