Emotional Oranges (US) announce return to Australia with headline shows in Melbourne & Sydney for August 2024

    28 May 2024

MG Live and Frontier Touring are excited to announce the return of LA-based alt-R&B outfit Emotional Oranges to Australia for highly anticipated headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney this August.

Last down under in 2022, Emotional Oranges will return to Australia as part of their world tour, performing two exclusive shows at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Tuesday 20 August and at Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Wednesday 21 August.

Frontier Member presale kicks off tomorrow Wednesday 29 May from 11am local time before tickets go on sale Friday 31 May from 11am local time. Tickets and further tour information is available via frontiertouring.com/emotionaloranges.

Returning to Australia after two long years, Emotional Oranges – Azad and Vali – have evolved from the artists with mysterious, unknown identities to much-loved creators and faces of the R&B duo. Creating a fusion of R&B and alternative sounds loved by the masses, since they were last in Australia the ‘West Coast Love’ hit makers have collaborated with some of the industry's most exciting artists, including Kiana Lede, Biig Piig, ZHU, Channel Tres, Chiiild and Australia’s own Tkay Maidza to create an impressive discography of stand-out tracks from ‘Body & Soul’ (feat. Biig Piig) to ‘Not Like This’ (feat. ZHU) as well as debut release ‘Motion’, ‘Just Like You’ and ‘West Coast Love’.

Recently releasing their latest project, Blended earlier this year, the EP collaboration with Nigerian singer-songwriter Nonso Amadi was what the duo described as “a beautiful 4 song culture clash” which fans will be able to hear live in Australia for the first time.

“Emotional Oranges are blessed with a deftness of touch that allows them to pull many different worlds into their plane.” – Clash

“Emotional Oranges sound like pure euphoria, with love songs caked in the ecstasy of a retro groove.” - New Yorker

Emotional Oranges mysteriously dropped onto the scene back in 2019 with the release of debut project ‘The Juice Vol.1’. With no names or faces behind the album, the duo were letting their voices alone launch them into familiarity, with fans soon being drawn into the allure that was Emotional Oranges. Revealing their identities soon after the success of their debut, the duo continued to release music, creating a cult following one project at a time. Dropping their fifth project ‘STILL EMO’ at the close of 2023, which Clash defined as ‘entering their new era’, Emotional Oranges consistently prove their musicality holds no boundaries, curating genres and blends of music different to the last while consistently maintaining their distinctive edge. Taking ‘The Juice: Vol III’ project across 23 North-American cities in 2023, the duo geared up to go global in 2024. Having wrapped up the UK & Europe dates of the ‘Still Emo Tour’, the duo will be bringing their biggest hits and latest curations across Asia and Australia in August.

Joining Emotional Oranges as special guest on their Australian tour is Canadian experimental-soul band Chiiild. Having collaborated on Emotional Oranges’ 2021 track ‘Bonafide’ Chiiild share a mutual appreciation for genre-bending music. Drawing their sound from experimentation with soul, R&B, psychedelia, jazz, indie and pop blends, the band’s curations including ‘Weightless’, ‘Pirouette’ and ‘Awake’ are testament to their cult-like following.  Previously supporting both Emotional Oranges and Leon Bridges on tour as well as embarking on their own headline ‘Apocalyptic Optimistic Tour’ in 2021, Chiiild will join Emotional Oranges in both Melbourne and Sydney, heading down under for the first time.

As genre-bending duo Emotional Oranges return to Australia, don’t miss these highly anticipated shows as they take to the stage alongside Chiiild this August!
