The Detroit-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer will bring his magnetic stage presence and boundary-smashing sound to fans this summer, following the release of EP The Woods (out now via Atlantic Records) and performances at festivals such as Lollapalooza and Bleached Fest.

Sam Austins is busy making waves with a style that pulls equally from indie rock, electronica, and Detroit-born grit – as heard on recent single ‘Hot like you’. Born and raised in the Motor City, Austins was surrounded by music from the start – his father toured with The Four Tops, while his mother filled the family home with records. By the age of two, he was already a self-taught prodigy, appearing on local TV playing piano and drum machine. Austins first broke through with his deeply personal 2021 mixtape HOMELESS STAR, a heartfelt tribute to the grit and resilience of his home city. 2023 brought EP Boy Toy, which showcased his genre-defying approach channelling the energy of Outkast, LCD Soundsystem, and Smashing Pumpkins. 2024’s breakout single ‘Seasons’ went stratospheric, inspiring over 200,000 TikTok creations and connecting with fans worldwide.

Now based in Los Angeles, Austins continues to push his creativity into uncharted territory. The Woods is his boldest statement yet, critics praising his vision and originality: Billboard highlighting his “boundary-breaking artistry” and Vogue calling him “one of alternative pop’s most exciting voices”. Having supported the likes of Omar Apollo and KAYTRANADA, Austins will now head to Australia for three exclusive shows, Sydney and Melbourne plus an already announced set at VIC’s Meredith Music Festival.
