“Vanisher bursts at the seams with metaphors, double-entendres, and a mille-feuille pastry’s worth of musical layers… Along the way, Quadeca toys with baroque pop and bossa nova like a tweaked rap producer, finessing every chord loop and textural nano-layer until you can practically smell the salty coastline.” - Pitchfork
Building one-of-a-kind worlds through self-produced music and visuals, Quadeca’s first forays into concept albums, Voice Memos and From Me To You, both made impressive debuts. In 2022, the release of his spectral and impressionistic album, I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You, signified a watershed moment for Lasky, with contributions from Danny Brown, Thor Harris of Swans, and the Sunday Service Choir. The project is a fully self-produced opus with an accompanying film that landed him newfound levels of acclaim, topping many year-end album lists and winning over critic Anthony Fantano (theneedledrop) who named the album’s lead single ‘Born Yesterday’ as the 7th best song of 2022.
The release spurred widespread discourse about the validity of multi-media creators evolving in the internet age. This discourse was only amplified by his 2024 mixtape, SCRAPYARD, a wholly unique potpourri of experimental hip hop, neo-psychedelia, alternative r&b, pop, bossa nova, and indie rock, that became his most celebrated release to date. SCRAPYARD was given a coveted score of 9/10 from Anthony Fantano and currently sits as the #28 highest rated mixtape of all time on rateyourmusic.com.
2025 has been Quadeca's most successful year to date in terms of both critical acclaim and numbers. Vanisher, Horizon Scraper, his highly conceptual sailor-themed epic, earned Quadeca his first debut on numerous billboard charts, including #1 the Alternative Albums chart and made a mark on many UK charts including #1 on the Independent Album Breakers chart. Victoria Borlando of theneedledrop describes Vanisher as “a 70-minute epic that reads like a newer, almost spiritual adaptation of The Odyssey. The natural beauty and scariness come together to make something truly sublime.” On top of his own album, Quadeca also executive produced Kevin Abstract’s latest album BLUSH, co-releasing it on his independent label X8 Music, and was a featured artist / producer on Danny Brown’s latest album, Stardust.
