John Legend 2011
TOUR DATES & TICKETING arrow
The Frontier Touring Company are very pleased to welcome the incomparable John Legend and his ten piece band to theatres in Melbourne and Sydney this April for two very special headline shows to coincide with his East Coast Blues & Roots Festival appearance.
John Legend is renown within the R&B genre for his dulcet tones and sheer class – qualities that have seen him collaborate with many fellow heavyweights including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Fort Minor and mentor Kanye West. West has also co-produced numerous hits with Legend and all three of his previous albums. 2004’s debut Get Lifted, Once Again and Evolver have all hit #1 on the Billboard R&B charts.
John Legend’s latest collaboration is with hip hop group The Roots on Wake Up! (out now through Sony Music Australia). The critically-acclaimed album debuted in the Top 10 of the US Billboard 200 chart and features one original composition alongside covers of 1960s and 1970s soul classics, fuelling societal themes of consciousness, awareness and engagement.
The recipient of six Grammy Awards and one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People for 2009, John Legend constantly bowls over critics and fans with his smooth voice, compelling renditions and soulful hits including ‘Ordinary People’, ‘Used To Love U’ and ‘Save Room’.
‘As the owner of possibly the sexiest voice in music, John Legend has got it going on…One of the most talented songwriters of the moment.’ – BBC.co.uk
‘John Legend is modern R&B's classiest male singer, bringing old-fashioned suavity to hip-hop soul…’ - Rolling Stone
‘Legend's voice sounds commanding – he handles the starkness of the lyrics with aplomb’ – The Guardian
‘He has a strong melodic sense and the pop knack for distilling a relationship down to a hook…He’s also a romantic with a kindly voice that billows out for big moments.’ – The New York Times
John Legend’s sophistication and elegance as a performer often class him in a league of his own and his theatre shows are known to be a spine-tingling delight. Treat yourself to a night on the town with John Legend and his band.
