Mark Seymour & The Undertow returning in spring for encore tour by popular demand!

04 Apr 2018

RETURNING IN SPRING FOR ENCORE TOUR BY POPULAR DEMAND

After sold out shows around the country last winter, Frontier Touring are thrilled to announce that Mark Seymour & The Undertow will return to capital cities in October and November for a hotly-anticipated and requested encore tour, revisiting over three decades of classics from the icon.

‘Another stunning performance by one of our country’s finest singer-songwriters’ – The Music

‘Mark’s vocals are as strong as ever and there is what I can only describe as a down-to-earth honesty in the delivery of his tunes’ – Rock Club 40

The renowned former frontman of seminal Australian band Hunters & Collectors, Mark Seymour is one of our country’s most gifted and respected musicians. Mark has consistently delivered timeless tunes not only with his band but on his own, winning an ARIA for his second solo album One Eyed Man in 2011.

Spanning over 30 years, Seymour has delivered classics that immediately etched their way into our national consciousness, including ‘Holy Grail’, ‘Do You See What I See?’ and ‘Say Goodbye’. Even after leaving Hunters & Collectors and forming The Undertow in 2011, his influence hasn’t waned. 2017’s live album Roll Back The Stone - 1985-2016 is a powerful testament to that, with STACK Magazine raving that the record ‘showcases a songwriter who’s simply getting better with age’.

Seymour last brought his emotive storytelling to Meredith Music Festival last year:

‘If anyone was still trying to pick themselves up after their [Big Thief’s] show, then Mark Seymour had the medicine. ‘Holy Grail’ may be a song, he told the crowd, about nobody deserving to die – but it makes for a helluva joyous singalong.’ – The Sydney Morning Herald

‘Seymour’s songs of finding redemption, facing prison, and husbands kissing their wives and hoping they survive the day at work, reveal a tough life history. The intensity was quite a contrast to the mood of the glitter wearing, glow-stick waving Saturday night party crowd.’ – Daily Review

Don’t miss this visceral experience when Mark Seymour and his ‘tight as a fist’ band The Undertow return to the stage at some of this country’s finest theatres, with those lucky enough to attend experiencing a two-set performance filled with emotive storytelling and full production.

The Undertow are Mark Seymour (vocals, guitar), Cameron McKenzie (guitars), Peter Maslen (drums) and John Favaro (bass).
