‘Hammond sounds like a new man, soaring to unseen heights’ – Rolling Stone  ★★★★

‘Remarkably lean and focused … Hammond reinforces the notion that, while rock’n’roll may be the gateway to a lifetime of vice, it can also be the most effective form of rehab.’ – Pitchfork

‘Whatever happens with the Strokes, his future as a song craftsman is assured’ –

His first solo album in five years, Momentary Masters, was released in July 2015 to critical acclaim. Now Frontier Touring is proud to present the first ever headline tour by the incredible Albert Hammond Jr. – singer/songwriter and guitarist with New York City legends The Strokes – who’ll perform four special headline shows in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in February 2016.

As part of garage rock giants The Strokes, Hammond Jr. has sold multi-platinum albums across the globe ever since the release of 2001’s ground-breaking Is This It. His solo work has been equally as impressive: following on from the release of his 2006 debut Yours To Keep and 2008’s ¿Cómo Te Llama?, his latest longplayer is his best work yet. Momentary Masters was produced by Gus Oberg, who previously worked on the Strokes’ Angles and Comedown Machine.

Check out the video for the breezy pop of latest single ‘Caught By My Shadow’ here. While in Australia, Albert will also perform at the Mountain Sounds festival in Gosford, NSW, on Saturday 20 February.

Momentary Masters was recorded in Hammond Jr.’s home in upstate New York in a converted barn christened One Way Studios. “I feel like the best songs I’ve written, as soon as I was done, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I did it!’” he says. “But in that split second that it comes, that feeling goes. It’s the same thing when you find complete happiness, you find this complete low. I feel like that’s what being creative is: it’s you bouncing with emotion and what you capture in those bounces. Accept where you are and use it.”

With stellar reviews from the likes of Consequence Of Sound (“packed with top-notch guitar music, front to back”), NME (“a significant achievement”), The Guardian (“a winning return”) and more, Albert Hammond Jr. is unmissable. With his love of Australia no secret, these summer shows will be great – don’t miss them!
