Hey Geronimo

Hey Geronimo

Lucky ticketholders to Megan Washington's Brisbane show this Thursday will also be treated to purveyors of innovative indie-pop Hey Geronimo.

Referencing the romantic vibes of 1960s Brit-pop, the band's latest offering ‘The Girl Who Likes Me’ features Hey Geronimo at their upbeat best. The clip features extensive footage from the band's recent trip to India as performers on the NH7 Weekender tour.

Highlights from their 10-day tour of India included collaborations with classical musicians in Mumbai coordinated by APRA, and a concert at an under-privileged children’s home in Delhi.

Check out the clip here.

All Our Exes Live In Texas

All Our Exes Live In Texas

Joining Megan Washington for her Melbourne + Brisbane shows will be All Our Exes Live in Texas, a fantasy draft of Sydney musical talent.

If ripper songs sung in arresting harmony by four clever ladies is something you think you might be interested in, All Our Exes Live in Texas is the band for you.

On mandolin, accordion, ukelele and guitar, All Our Exes evoke classic bluegrass and share the "entertainment is not a dirty word" credo with some of the greats of country music. Go see the Exes. And try not to fall in love too much. It's embarrassing.

INTIMATE SHOWS ANNOUNCED IN BRISBANE & MELBOURNE

Frontier Touring are proud to announce that multiple ARIA award winning Megan Washington will play two very special shows at intimate venues for her fans in Brisbane and Melbourne this April, in support of her new single ‘Who Are You’.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2009 Megan Washington has walked a path of highs and introduced us to her own brand of pure eclectic shining pop. Her first single ‘Clementine’ saw her win triple j’s Unearthed Artist competition. People started taking note of this sassy and fearless woman, then known only by her surname Washington. The following EP How to Tame Lions was again greeted with healthy sales, glowing reviews and won the coveted, inaugural Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition for the title track (watch here) - no mean feat given the 4000 song entries received from all around the world. That same song would go on to win the 2010 APRA Songwriting award just 12 months later.

2010 was a stellar year for Megan Washington, she played to packed houses in every Australian city and her debut album I Believe You Liar entered the ARIA Album Charts at #3. The album remained in the top 40 for almost 20 weeks and was awarded Platinum status within the year, later going on to Multi-Platinum.

That particular vintage also yielded sweet fruit for Megan Washington when she was nominated for seven ARIA Awards, winning Best Female Artist and Breakthrough Australian Artist, and stole the show with a Bob Fosse inspired performance of her song ‘Sunday Best’ on the steps of the iconic Sydney Opera House in a live national television broadcast...a hint of things to come.

‘This terrific singer-songwriter is a star in her native Australia – but her acerbic, literate pop deserves a wider audience. Washington takes Costello's verbosity, all that new wave vitriol, and like him gives her music a pop sheen, sugaring the pill so that these songs about love and the terrible things it makes us feel and do become easier to swallow.’ Artist Of The Day – The Guardian UK

The release of the darker, more introspective Insomnia EP perhaps hinted at a new direction for her and a sold out Sydney Opera House show by the same name book-end an incredible 2 years (watch the opening track from the EP, ‘Holy Moses’ here).

2013 saw Megan Washington arrive in London, embrace a musical revolution and reconnect with Australian record producer Samuel Dixon (Sia, Adele) who reignited the songwriting flame and shaped the creative direction of her new material.

Although it’s been two years since we’ve received a new studio recording from this artist, ‘Who Are You’, recorded in London’s RAK Studios and Peter Gabriel’s New World, is world-class and is definitely well worth the wait.

Given the history of her shows selling out in record time, don’t miss this very rare opportunity to see Megan Washington perform in such intimate venues.
