THE BRAND NEW HEAVIES ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR!

Following sell out shows in Melbourne and Sydney in 2010, Frontier Touring and Illusive Entertainment are proud to announce the return of legendary British soul funk pioneers The Brand New Heavies.

These shows will mark the band’s milestone 21st birthday and see The Brand New Heavies playing intimate venues in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

All four original members - Simon Bartholomew (guitar), Jan Kincaid (drums), Andrew Levy (bass) and of course fan favourite lead singer N’Dea Davenport - will be in attendance for these very special performances.

With a career spanning more than two decades, The Brand New Heavies were instrumental in the development of the London based Acid Jazz scene, alongside other notable career artists such as Jamiroquai and Incognito.

In 1990, the Heavies found its voice with the addition of lead singer N’Dea Davenport, who was introduced to the band via their US label, Delicious Vinyl.

It didn’t take long for the group to score a US No. 3 R&B hit with ‘Never Stop’, a highlight from its self-titled debut album, while their second album ‘Heavy Rhyme Experience: Vol. 1’, saw them paired with pioneering hip-hop artists like Grand Puba, Kool G. Rap and Gang Starr’s Guru, among others.

The Heavies continued to gain momentum both in UK and America in the 90s where they notched up a string of Top 20 hits with tracks including ‘Never Stop’, ‘Stay This Way’, ‘Dream on Dreamer’ and ‘Sometimes’ - establishing the Heavies as a creative and commercial force.

In 2005 and after a decade apart, the original Heavies reformed after a chance meeting in New York.

The band released a critically acclaimed new album in 2006 called ‘Get Used To It’ and in 2009, after continuous touring, released their first live album - ‘Live In London’.

The band continues to perform all over the world at festivals, headlining shows, and US TV, including the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Don’t miss the opportunity to join the band’s 21st birthday celebrations when they tour Australia this September!
