Foo Fighters - Launceston show sold out!

Foo Fighters fever has officially hit Tasmania! Frontier Touring is pleased to announce the band’s one-night-only UTAS Stadium show on Saturday 24 January has sold out in record time, fans from across the country snapping up tickets today for what is gearing up to be the hottest show of the summer.

Anticipation is building for the largest influx of concertgoers Launceston, and Tasmania, has ever seen. Foo Fighters’ sold-out show will be their first performance in Tasmania since 2015, and their first ever in the city of Launceston.

Says Dave Grohl: “We have a very special relationship with Tasmania – as we do with all of Australia. We have these little meetings where the band sits around at the studio with our team, and we think of fun stuff to do... We looked at the calendar and thought, ‘Let’s pop down for a gig’. We’ve been doing these sneaky surprise shows here in the States, having so much fun. To come down and have a special night is amazing… even though we’re literally flying down for 48 hours… we’ll go onstage and blast it out for three hours, then come home. I’ve always loved Australia so much, we’ve been coming down a long time and it’s always felt like home.

Adding to the celebration at UTAS, the rock and roll legends are honoured to be joined by two acclaimed rising Aussie bands: Brisbane’s Full Flower Moon Band and Launceston trio Spooky Eyes, who will take to the stage in front of the biggest audience of their careers.

Spooky Eyes describe the opportunity as nothing short of surreal: “For a scrappy little band from Tassie, getting the call to open for Foo Fighters is insane. These things truly never happen. We started out in Launceston and now playing a hometown show, opening for a band that was unavoidable in our youth feels unreal. The fact they’re only coming down to Tasmania for this one show makes it feel even more special. It’s really a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and it’s a massive chance for us to get our music in front of new ears.”

Full Flower Moon Band, who just released a new, 10-track edition of their latest album, are equally thrilled: “We’re incredibly excited to be performing with Foo Fighters… It’s our first stadium show and easily our biggest crowd yet – perfect timing to try out some new music from Megaflower Deluxe! We’ve played in Tassie twice before and we’re so keen to come back.”

Foo Fighters have a long and storied history with Australian audiences. Their previous visit in late 2023 saw the band sell out stadiums nationwide in celebration of their eleventh studio album, But Here We Are, reaffirming their status as one of the world’s greatest stadium live rock act. Across their 14 visits to Australia to date, the band have developed a reputation for delivering unforgettable, high-octane shows, both in major capitals and regional centres, such as their history making performance in 2022 in Geelong.

Foo Fighters have sold over 1.8 million records in Australia, with nine #1 albums to date – the most #1 in any territory for the band.

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and Ilan Rubin.
