NME described The Bravery as "the hottest band in New York", so with a wintry August in mind The Frontier Touring Company are exporting them over here to Oz to warm things up a bit.

Touring Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in support of their debut self-titled album (Universal), The Bravery are set to show Australian audiences that there's more to them than just hype.

But to get you suitably excited in the lead up, we thought we'd share some of the, well, hype.

"Cracking stuff: four-square indie-rock blessed with the sweat, funk and frivolity of the Scissor Sisters' dance floor," NME.

"It's hard not to get stirred about a band that can play sweaty, sexy, tight grooves with contagious hyperactivity," Hollywood Reporter.

Rolling Stone put them in their "Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2005" list, the BBC plugged them as "#1 most promising act of 2005 on their "Sound of 2005" music critic poll", and Spin Magazine included them in their "Next Big Things" feature.

And by all reports the live shows are really quite something, with Manchester Evening News writing "the crowd willed them on, song by song, urging them to electro synth pop punk heaven, and the band played their hearts out."

While NME described the opening moments of a show in Brooklyn; "the group take to the stage one by one, squinting into the intense lights as teenage girls faint melodramatically into the arms of their cheering boyfriends."

Get your dance on when The Bravery hit town this August because it's going to be a night to remember.
