After months of speculation, the Mushroom Group has finally unveiled details of its highly anticipated Mushroom 50 Live concert.

Mushroom 50 Live is a celebration of Australia’s most iconic music company, with some of the country’s most adored artists across multiple generations set to come together for a once-in-a-lifetime event.

To bookend a huge year of celebrations, commemorating the Mushroom Group’s 50th anniversary, the massive concert will feature over twenty artists, with more to be announced, performing 50 songs for 50 years. Mushroom 50 Live will be a one night only event, held on Sunday 26 November, at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

Artists will perform a mix of originals and classic songs, hand-selected from the revered Mushroom catalogue including anthems such as ‘Working Class Man’, ‘Holy Grail’, ‘Sweet Disposition’, ‘Riptide’, ‘Hoops’, ‘It’s Only the Beginning’, ‘Before Too Long’, and ‘Living In The 70’s’, with plenty more to be revealed on the night.

These esteemed artists and classic tracks have become the soundtrack to millions of people around the country. While Mushroom 50 Live will pay homage to that legacy, the event will also look to the future, showcasing the next generation of Mushroom artists who will make their own mark on the Australian music landscape in the years to come.

On top of that, throughout the night fans can expect special pre-recorded messages and performances from Mushroom friends and family who were unable to be in the room - stay tuned for more exciting news in the coming weeks.

Mushroom Group Chief Executive, Matt Gudinski, said the concert is a celebration of what makes Australia’s music scene one of the best in the world.

“This is going to be an incredible once-in-a-lifetime night, to commemorate fifty years of great Mushroom music and Australian talent.

The Mushroom family is determined to bring together a special evening for all involved. With more than twenty artists performing as part of the event, this will be a true celebration of Australian music and a showcase our thriving local music scene and its history. I know my late father would be very proud of what we are putting together.”

As depicted in the recent feature documentary, Ego: The Michael Gudinski Story, Mushroom Records was founded by Michael Gudinski in 1972, at the age of just twenty. It has gone on to become the most influential music company in Australian history. This year, Mushroom is honouring fifty years of unforgettable songs, artists, and moments that helped shape the country’s vibrant music scene.

This mega concert follows on from a series of historic Mushroom anniversary celebrations.

In 1983, Mushroom hosted its 10th birthday bash, with the renowned Mushroom Evolution Concert at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, followed years later by the record-breaking Mushroom 25 Live concert at the MCG in 1998 – at the time the largest ever ticketed concert in Australian music history, with 73,000 people in attendance.

Mushroom 50 Live is in partnership with ALWAYS LIVE and Telstra.

This event is part of ALWAYS LIVE, a seventeen-day state-wide celebration of contemporary live music supported by the Victoria Government through Visit Victoria, an initiative first conceptualised by Mushroom founder Michael Gudinski.

ALWAYS LIVE CEO, Steve Smith, said he is delighted to help bring Mushroom 50 Live to life.

"We’re thrilled to play a part in celebrating the enduring legacy and impact that Mushroom has had on Australia’s music landscape. ALWAYS LIVE is all about memorable music moments, and Mushroom 50 Live is sure to be an unforgettable event, and a standout in ALWAYS LIVE’s 2023 program."

Telstra return to support Mushroom 50 Live, following on from their involvement in the Mushroom 25 Concert. Two dollars from every ticket will go towards Support Act’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day campaign.

The Telstra Plus presale commences Friday 13 October, 2:00pm AEDT, before the Frontier Member presale kicks off Monday 16 October, 1:00pm AEDT.

Tickets go on sale from Wednesday, 18 October, 3:00pm AEDT
