Switchfoot's lead vocalist Jon Foreman recently told Pollstar; "For us, the live show is the life of Switchfoot. That's where we live and breathe. It's more about communicating the places you can go with the song. When you hear everyone singing along, it feels like with the band we're part of something bigger than ourselves."

An appropriate sentiment really - with more than 1.2 million albums sold in the US alone, Switchfoot's success has taken on a colossal life on its own. Their album The Beautiful Letdown has remained consistently in the US Top 20 for over three months, while their single Meant To Live reached the top 5 in the US charts.

And Switchfoot's success is spreading across the globe to Australia with Meant To Live already proving a favourite on Australia's leading radio stations. The album, the band1s first commercial label signing, is scheduled for release in Australia on September 13. In support of the release the band have agreed to head to our shores, with shows in Melbourne and Sydney scheduled for this September. And the murmurs amongst music industry insiders are that the formula that has proven so successful in America will strike true in Australia also, with both shows expected to sell out before the band1s arrival.

But don't mistake this band for just another "overnight success story". Because chances are that you've stumbled across their music before. Prior to The Beautiful Letdown, Switchfoot released three independent albums, won a 2001 ASCAP San Diego Music Award for "Best Pop Album" and "Best Pop Artist," a 2002 ASCAP San Diego Music Award for "Best Adult Alternative" and the band contributed five songs to the gold-certified soundtrack for the Mandy Moore film "A Walk To Remember" (including a duet with Foreman and Moore).

Then there's the fact that more than 40 Switchfoot songs have been used for several major TV shows, including "Dawson's Creek", "Regis and Kelly," "Felicity," and many more.

So tune into your local radio station, purchase a copy of The Beautiful Letdown on September 13 and snap up your tickets to see Switchfoot live. You won't regret it.
