“I always loved songs where the singer would sing with real soul, like they really believed in what they were singing about. Those are the kinds of songs that really stayed with me. I can't sing a song about something I don't believe in.” - James Morrison

James Morrison captivated a blessed few at intimate solo shows in Melbourne and Sydney last September. Now, Frontier can confirm the news that many have been waiting for since this time. The 2007 Brit Award winner will return down under this May to perform shows in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland… and this time he’ll be performing with a full band.

Already, at the tender age of just 22, James Morrison’s accolades are many. His debut album Undiscovered (out now through Universal Music Australia) rocketed to #1 on the UK charts, with lead single “You Give Me Something” a firm radio favourite both overseas and in our own backyard.

More recently, James won the prestigious Brit Award (the UK equivalent of America’s Grammy Awards) for Male Solo Artist, an achievement in its own right, but an even greater one when you take into consideration his competition, which included Jarvis Cocker and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke.

Musically, James was influenced by greats like Otis Redding, Al Green, Cat Stevens, The Kinks and Van Morrison, and it shows. Part of his charm is his charismatic, soulful voice.

“It’s as though he’s stolen the soul of an 80 year old black American blues singer...” – The Times

“The real deal, a British country boy channelling the spirit of Otis Redding.” – Daily Telegraph

Then, there are his lyrics. Honest, passionate and inspirational, James’s lyrics draw on his troubled past, revealing his deepest, most private emotions.

It is these heartfelt lyrics, combined with his soulful voice that makes James’s live performances so engaging, silencing even the harshest of critics.

“While Morrison’s rise has been meteoric and unexpected, his is not a false position. It is not possible to force a million people to buy a CD, and Morrison’s fans have done so because he makes a connection... There are signs here that something beyond promising lies in his future.” – Guardian Unlimited, Jan 2007

“Every so often somebody comes along and blows away the hype and hearsay to prove they have real talent. Such is the case with Morrison. Say what you like, but the guy really can sing. Think the husky-toned sound of Joe Cocker in his prime or Wilson Pickett on form… At this sold-out gig, he certainly proved his worth.” – Manchester Evening News, Dec 2006

So get yourself a ticket to see James when they go on sale on Friday March 16, and as Q Mag says “Approach with wonder.” But do be warned, such is James’s popularity that his concerts sell out weeks in advance.

Members, there will be a pre-sale for James's Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland shows. The pre-sale will commence at noon AEDST on Tuesday 13 March and end at noon AEDST on Wednesday 14 March or when the pre-sale allocation is exhausted. There will not be a pre-sale for the Melbourne show.

Australia’s love affair with James Morrison continues. The 2007 Brit Award winner’s Sydney show at the Enmore Theatre sold out in just days, leaving Frontier Touring with no choice but to add a second Sydney show for the talented singer songwriter.

The new show will also take place at the Enmore Theatre and will be held on Friday 11 May. Tickets for the new show will go ON SALE AT 9AM on WEDNESDAY 28 MARCH.

In further exciting news, James has also just been confirmed to perform at this year’s TV Week Logie Awards. The Logies will be held on Sunday 6 May at the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne. This is a great coup for James, as the awards will be televised to the entire nation on the Nine Network! In the past, the Logies has acted as a platform for many international artists – including Michael Buble and Il Divo – helping them to achieve great success downunder.

Local favourite Mahalia Barnes will support James on this tour. Mahalia has been around music all of her life, and has a wealth of live experience, having performed numerous times on-stage with her father, Jimmy Barnes and her close friend, Jade MacRae. Don’t miss out!

The Frontier Touring Company wishes to advise all Melbourne James Morrison fans of the cancellation of the tonight’s show at The Palais Theatre.

James visited a specialist today and on doctor’s orders has been advised not to perform this evening. He is suffering from acute Laryngitis.

Unfortunately due to the scheduling of the tour, a new date for his Melbourne show is not possible.

Patrons are entitled to and will receive a full refund for this show. If you purchased a ticket to the show, please seek a refund from your original point of purchase.

Both Frontier and James deeply regret any inconvenience and disappointment that this situation has caused.

James’s Sydney and Brisbane shows will proceed as planned.

The Frontier Touring Company deeply regrets to advise the cancellation of UK singer James Morrison's Brisbane show tonight.

After cancelling his show in Melbourne last Tuesday due to a severe case of Laryngitis, James bravely soldiered through two Sydney concerts.

At the conclusion of last night's show, James had an emergency meeting with a throat specialist and was strongly advised against performing tonight.

James is absolutely devastated and hopes to return to Australia in the near future to repay his fans for their understanding.

Patrons are entitled to and will receive a refund for this show. If you were scheduled to attend the show tonight you can obtain a refund from your original point of purchase.
