Acclaimed platinum-selling singer, songwriter and musician Andy Grammer will be appearing as American Authors’ very special guest on the band’s upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand, treating audiences to a solo acoustic set.
Grammer has taken Australia by storm - his joyously anthemic track 'Back Home' became the #1 most added song to radio in the week of its release and peaked at #7 on the most Shazamed tracks chart in Australia thanks to the Channel Seven House Rules finale promo.
The song is taken from Grammer's forthcoming second album Magazines Or Novels (out 8 August through Liberator Music), pre-empting great things from this multi-talented and charistmatic performer.
Opening proceedings for the Australian dates will be Melbourne band Masketta Fall who formed in 2011 and have quickly proven themselves to be the ones to watch in the pop-rock music scene. Their extensive online presence led their 2012 debut Something Beautiful EP to reach #20 on the iTunes Pop Albums Charts and landed their recently released EP Parachute at #27.
In the short few months of their inception, they have supported Anberlin on their Australian tour and embarked on a headline tour of their own late last year in celebration of their Parachute EP. The band have just wrapped up a string of secret and intimate shows as well as club dates across Australia in support of their latest single ’Big Dog’, pleasing fans in what they described as “a concert experience like no other!”
Joining American Authors and Andy Grammer for their Auckland show will be New Zealand's own Benny Tipene.
Benny Tipene shot to local stardom after appearing on the New Zealand series of The X Factor. In the years prior, Benny had been a very proficient songwriter and musician and had been at the forefront of many and varied musical projects.
Tipene signed to Sony Music and released his debut single 'Walking On Water' which debuted at #2 on The Official New Zealand Music Chart and was later certified as a platinum selling single. Second single 'Make You Mine' garnered further acclaim and in February of this year Benny released his debut EP 'Toulouse'.

Returning to Australia + Visiting New Zealand for the first time!
Frontier Touring are excited to announce Brooklyn-based alt rock band American Authors will be returning to Australia and visiting New Zealand for the first time this year to play shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
Band members Zac Barnett, James Adam Shelley, Dave Rublin and Matt Sanchez left the Berklee College of Music in Boston where they met to take their alt-rock, four-part harmonies and infectious pop sensibilities to the Big Apple as American Authors. Their honest songwriting evidently comes from the diversity that the four members bring to the table. As lead singer Zac Barnett explains the idea behind their name and work ethic:
“We’re the authors of our lives, creating music from what we’ve lived, from what we hope for, from what we feel. Every day is different and like everyone, our emotions change according to our personal highs and lows and by the challenges or triumphs that affect all of us…we’re not afraid to be goofy one day and serious the next. We just want to be true to ourselves and share our stories for as long as people are willing to listen” – Zac Barnett (vocals)
American Authors were in Australia for a brief visit earlier this year in support of the release of their debut album Oh, What A Life (out now through Universal) which reached #3 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart and #15 in the Billboard 200. The band performed a series of exclusive events whilst they were here including a concert at iconic Luna Park for 300 lucky fans.
Debut single ‘Best Day Of My Life’ proved to be a massive international breakthrough for the band (click here to watch), gaining worldwide success as it featured on various advertising campaigns around the world including: Hyundai in the UK and France, Telecom in New Zealand as well as for US retail home improvement giant Lowe’s which aired during the Superbowl. It also appeared on the trailer for some of this year’s cinematic releases including Delivery Man and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. In Australia the track took a similar trajectory after being picked up by local liquor chain BWS for one of their commercials, landing in the top 15 on the radio airplay chart, top 10 on the iTunes singles chart and achieving certified platinum single sales.
The mega hit was even performed on Glee earlier this year during their ‘New New York’ episode (click here to watch) as well as being invited on Ellen to perform the anthemic tune (click here to watch). The track is now closing in on 23 million views on YouTube and a whopping 53 million plays on Spotify! Following the success of this incredibly infectious hit single, American Authors released their equally catchy second single; ‘Believer.’ Watch the official clip here
The last year has seen American Authors not only dominate the charts, television and movie screens, but also their live presence, having supported the likes of OneRepublic and The Script to being one of the most highly anticipated bands to play at SXSW in Austin, Texas earlier this year, leading to a number of sold out headline shows in the US and UK/Europe.
‘This is an incredibly energetic band; all four member put their all into every performance and seem to have fun doing so. The Brooklyn-based foursome’s single ‘Best Day Of My Life’ has been blowing up the airwaves recently and the crowd went nuts when they heard the song’s introductory banjo plucks.’ - Examiner.com
‘The highlight of Oh, What a Life, besides American Authors’ incredibly infection sound is the exuberantly positive lyrics present on every song…The entire album is chock-ful of uplifting lyrics that make this album a truly enjoyable listening experience. American Authors is one of the most promising up-and-coming bands right now that has potential to hit it big.’ – Substream Magazine
In the last few months, American Authors have not only proved to be proficient songwriters that have captivated audiences across the world, they have proven themselves as headliners in their own right through their energy and commitment to honing their craft as live performers. If the international response to American Authors is anything to go by, you will not want to miss these guys in action.
