THE FRONTIER TOURING COMPANY PRESENTS
EVERY POSTER TELLS A STORY!
30 YEARS OF THE FRONTIER TOURING COMPANY
For over 30 years since its original formation in 1979, The Frontier Touring Company has been at the forefront of promoting and presenting international and local artist concerts to the music loving audiences across Australia and New Zealand. There has been in excess of 500 concert tours; from small intimate shows to pubs and clubs, through to massive stadium rock events and outdoor concerts.
It was Frontier who put Bob Dylan and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers together; Frontier who put the two finest piano men and their keyboards on the road – ‘Elton John & Billy Joel: Face to Face’ and Frontier who nurtured once upon a time newcomers Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, The Killers, Maroon 5, Foo Fighters, Faith No More, Concrete Blonde, Radiohead, Kylie Minogue, Snow Patrol, Diana Krall, La Roux, Michael Franti & Spearhead and Alicia Keys to name a few.
Frontier have long represented the concert touring interests of the most established international major artists such as Leonard Cohen, Lionel Richie, The Police, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Tom Jones, Eagles and Australian artists including Kylie Minogue, Jimmy Barnes, Kasey Chambers plus many more. From Anne Murray to the Sex Pistols, from UK Squeeze to Green Day and the notorious to the sublime; The Frontier Touring Company is proud to represent a huge variety of artists’ live performances across Australia and New Zealand.
To celebrate 30 years of concert promoting, Frontier is publishing a limited edition coffee table book. ‘Every Poster Tells A Story! 30 Years of The Frontier Touring Company’ is for music fans of all generations and genres to both enjoy and relive happy memories of concerts that they have attended over the years.
As the title suggests, the book is a colourful collection of Frontier concert posters – some easy to source and some which proved to be elusive, but we are proud to say we managed to track down every single one. The 286 page full colour hardback book features 536 tour posters and lists individual concert dates for each tour through to the close of 2010.
In addition to a foreword by The Frontier Touring Company co-founder and co-owner, CEO Michael Gudinski, some of the leading music journalists from Australia and New Zealand were invited to - and have contributed - essays for each era to set the scene of what was influencing the Australian public’s music tastes and concert ticket purchases as well as what was affecting everyday lives – socially, politically and musically - at that time.
‘Every Poster Tells A Story! 30 Years Of The Frontier Touring Company’ will be on sale Friday August 12th 2011. It will be available for purchase either online via www.frontiertouring.com or via book and music stores including selected Myer stores nationally, Readings & Avenue Bookstore in Victoria and Berkelouws in NSW.
THE MUSHROOM MUSIC SONG BOOK
Whether it’s a collection of CDs, vinyl, song lyrics or sheet music, we collect the songs by writers that inspire us; in life, love, events, politics, religion… the ‘inspirational’ list is endless. And as music lovers do, we revisit that collection over and over again; sometimes to remember a time in our lives or maybe to try and forget one; whatever the reason the collections we own are very much a part of our lives.
The Mushroom Music Song Book is our collection; the ones we find ourselves turning back to. Beautifully designed with lyrics, sheet music, photographs and stories, the book features fifty truly amazing Australian compositions by songwriters from iconic Mushroom Music.
The Mushroom Music Song Book was created by going back to the songwriters themselves and together they have shared the many stories, in most cases for the first time, of how their songs were brought to life. In addition to these personal anecdotes, the songwriter’s musical peers and associates have contributed their own fond memories. Whether you are a musician or a music fan, the book is a visually stunning, historical, insightful and creatively compiled collection of the songs that Australians revisit time and time again. And there are sure to be more than just a few that have found themselves in the soundtrack to your life too.
